Warm weather attracts local families who prefer to park up and picnic. The water pools are warm and great for kids to jump and splash. The beach will empty of cars as the tide quickly approaches so if your visiting Poul Gorm, keep and eye on when the locals start to pack up to avoid getting stuck. 

Poul Gorm is typically a park and picnic spot. If you're not keen on parking on the beach, pedestrian access is marked on the map above but you'll struggle to park at this point - there's room for one or 2 cars max. If driving onto the beach please please check the tide times, Poul Gorm is notorious for cars becoming beached as the water rushes in faster than you think.  

Did we mention the tides?? Yes, at low tide it's almost empty of water apart from the narrow channel and resembles the surface of the moon thanks to the hundreds of small water pools. High tide however will generally fill the beach entirely which makes it a classic spot for cars getting stuck. Dont be one of those!

The body of water in the channel that enters and leaves between Barrow and Banna is strong. Avoid all inflatables and keep an eye on how it surrounds you if you are standing on a sand bank.

If you don't like cars driving on the beach go to Barrow. It's not as busy as places like Inch and those who drive here are generally cautious and well behaved, but there are moving vehicles. Also, it's not really a swimming spot, the water is shallow except for out in the channel, which as we explained is not to be trifled with.
