Swimming events & races

Fenit is home to the Tralee Bay Swimming Club (TBSC), Fenit Swimfest and the nationally renowned Across the Bay 5km swim. For swimmers who like the cut and thrust of the race, TBSC run a series of races during the summer months when their members descend upon Lockes Beach for their swim and social fix. Races usually take place on weekday evenings. More information on Tralee Bay Swimming Club can be found here.

Introduced in 2021 and operated by Wild Water Adventures the Fenit Swimfest is a weekend water extravaganza with multiple swims, routes, events and activities taking place in the Fenit waters. Daily lighthouse swims, across the bay, 'Pier to Beer' and other novelty events have made this weekend a must attend for swimmers of all abilities.

Last but by no means least is the annual Across The Bay Challenge. Setting off from Derrymore early in the morning, upwards of 50 plucky swimmers of varying abilities supported by an fleet of kayaks set off on the 5km to Lockes Beach, Fenit. With all proceeds donated to the Fenit RNLI Lifeboat as well as many individual swimmers supporting their own causes or charities the arrival of each swimmer into Fenit is met with incredible atmosphere and emotion. It's a really special event.
